Bonus "Fooling with Scripture" Episode -- God's Sleeves

Hi folks! I promised on the last podcast that I'd post a bonus episode this week, since I missed last week. So here it is!

A lot of you have probably already heard this version of my song "God's Sleeves," but I thought it was a fun example of some scripture foolery.

If you're interested in learning more about some of the surprising (rather than spectacular) aspects of the weird and wild book of Revelation, check out Brian Blount's book Can I Get a Witness, which (among other things) reads Revelation through a hip hop lens.

If you haven't already, check out my Patreon page -- patrons have access to even more bonus content! Every little bit helps -- even just $1/month.

  1. I love the words for this, particularly "She's gonna need big sleeves." Thank you. Are the words posted anywhere?

    1. Hi Iain! Sorry for the delayed response. I don't know that I have the words posted anywhere; so here they are now:

If the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations
We're gonna need a lot of leaves
And if God's gonna wipe every tear from every eyes
She's gonna need some real big sleeves

A river of life comes pouring out of me
      But I won't drink it
'Cuz when it comes to anything that might possible heal me
      I can always overthink it

If the new Jerusalem's gonna come down from up above
We might want to clean this one up a bit
And if all the streets are really gonna be made out of gold
We might want to get used to being barefoot

A river of life comes pouring out of me
      But I won't drink it
'Cuz when it comes to anything that might possibly heal me
      I can always overthink it

      So rain down Spirit
      Rain down on me

We might want to start practicing our songs
We're gonna need 'em when the kingdom comes

If the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations
Then we better start collecting leaves
'Cuz we're gonna need an awful lot of them
